Today we’re thrilled to announce Riot Games and BAMTech have entered into a first-of-its-kind long-term commercialization partnership to deliver professional League of Legends esports content in regions around the world. We will be working closely with BAMTech to grow revenue in our sport through various means, including sponsorship and advertising.
Travis：Bob it's been reported that this is a $50M a year on average minimum guaranteed deal stretching all the way through the 2023 season. I think a lot of people are going to definitely raised eyebrows when they hear that number. You know, Why in your mind is valued at that number?
Bob：Well, I think I hope we're going to do a lot more than that. That's the minimum guarantee and I hope we're going to exceed that by a large margin and I expect that we will. But the reason why that I think this is so valuable is this is a digital-first property, all the other things that we've talked about, all the other sports have been TV first and have come to digital. A baseball has been doing it for 15 years and so we're pretty far down the road.
Bob：So the monetization for that effort and those kind of events is going to be really exciting. But we think the world is ready for esports. The sponsors, the advertisers are ready for it. They’re dying for it. It’s a great audience and they spend a great deal of time with this content.
Travis：Are there any plans for BAMTech to develop like a mobile app or something similar to what we've seen from other contents that you've worked with?
Bob：Yeah, we wouldn't be here if there weren't app involved. It's increasing the way people like to access content, particularly the content of this nature, particularly sports. Again, forget the "e" for a moment this is a world-class sport in a world, global sport, too.
Bob：We're gonna launch this app, again, on a stage bases country region by region, that's our hope. And player we can create an app based on the input from the fans, the customers, the teams and executives to build something that everyone loves and needs to use everyday.
Travis：So you mentioned that the fan viewing experience shoudn't change that much, or sorry it maybe even at all outside of the out of technology and service experience that you're developing with BAMTech. Does that mean for sure all the stuff that everybody enjoys right now unrestricted, HD streams and all that kind of stuff will continue on for the first table future?
Bradmore：That the core of who we are and we believe very strongly that the current experience with the HD streams and sort of the core eSport experience remains as accessible as possible free without pay-wall. That's not to say that we won't innovate down the road and maybe there is something supercool that we create that has to be behind like a premier exoerience that fans want to buy into it. Because we don't know what the future holds, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 years down the road, but this core experience like what you guys, eSports fans enjow today, can and will remain free.
Travis：Is there any plans to rev-share this in especially staring on the 2017 season?
Bradmore：So couple of things. One is we don't anticipate the real economic value of this deal to start hitting in materially until 2018. We've got no product annouce, we're way out in front of this. Because of the fact that we wanted to come out and get this in front of the misinformation that was out there earlier. Do we intend to rev-share? Absolutely.
Bradmore：Primarily it's gonna be, we're making up with creating a bigger pie and that we've already committed to providing that pie up with teams and pros.
Travis：Can you provide any insight on when we should expect to see anything come out of this, I know you're saying a lot of this will start hitting around 2018, but should we start see new streams pop up in the first half of next year or at the start of the season or anything like that?
This is some thing that overtime Riot will develop with BAMTech a really great product for fans. For instance that will probably be streamed in the client, that's something that they alluded to is long-term thay want to put it there. They alluded subscription services that adds extra value.
Over time I think what is going to end up happening is, the solution that they're building a product that they're building with BAMTech is going to get really good. So right now you might say okay maybe I want to watch on twitch, maybe I want to watch on youtube, maybe I want to watch on client. But certain point of time it's going to be so good because they're keep adding technology, they're going to build up an app apparently, this is what said in an interview.
